Good afternoon.

My name is Aisha Chugtai and I'm the chair of the Budget Committee.

I'm going to call to order the Budget Committee meeting for Monday, May 12, 2025.

Before we begin the meeting, I want to offer a friendly reminder to all members, staff, and the public that these meetings are broadcast live to enable greater public participation.

These broadcasts include real-time captioning as a further method to increase the accessibility of our proceedings to the community.

Therefore, all speakers need to be mindful of the rate of their speech so that our captioners can fully capture and transcribe all comments for the broadcast.

We ask all speakers to moderate the speed and clarity of their comments.

Today we have two items on our discussion agenda.

The first is related to the

2025 Budget Committee Work Plan.

Colleagues, Vice Chair Koski and I have had the opportunity to just review our work plan and make sure that we are continuing to stay on track for this year and through the rest of this term.

An amended 2025 Budget Committee Work Plan along with corresponding staff direction and legislative directives is being presented for your approval.

As the committee transitions into the 2025 phase of the work plan, several action items have remained incomplete or have fallen behind schedule.

These delays are in part due to evolving priorities and limited staff capacity along with just logistical challenges that have come up.

The amended work plan realigns the timeline, reschedules outstanding items, and includes updated staff directions and legislative directives to ensure all work is completed by the end of 2025.

Planning and City Council Budget Priorities.

In alignment with this, we are set to complete Budget Committee Planning at today's meeting and budget priorities at the next meeting.

I'll remind you that you have in your inboxes

a form to complete to submit your budget priorities along with sharing some feedback that is due at the end of this week on Friday.

The staff direction to the legislative branch formally directs them to complete all reports and presentations assigned to them in the 2025 work plan, specifically the proposed 2026 legislative department supplemental budget and they're on track to present their 2026 supplemental budget to us at our next meeting on June 2nd.

and then the report and presentations referenced in both the staff direction and legislative directive are those originally listed in the 2024-2025 work plan adopted in October of 2023 and again in February of 2024 at the beginning of this term.

So with that I will move this item for approval.

The next item on our agenda is employee reallocations to the Office of City Auditor.

Our city clerk just returned, he's the head of the legislative department, just returned from vacation today.

And as ongoing conversations are proceeding, it is the recommendation of our city clerk and our city auditor that we postpone this item a cycle.

So we'll just honor that and pick this up at our June 2nd meeting Any any objections to that?

Not seeing any so we'll consider this item postponed to our next meeting And with that we've completed vote.
