Next up for discussion is item number two which is the appointed position in the Police Department for Bureau Chief Civilian.

constitutional policing over efforts around reform it is internal affairs training all of those things that quite frankly not only could be done by a civilian if you have the right person that's qualified in many cases could be done better than then then by what we have available in terms of sworn staff so I think that's the kind of the higher level overview and just answer any questions that there are about this thank you

and the City Council.

In the proposal section where the Assistant Chief of Operations will now have three Deputy Chiefs reporting, in addition to the Deputy Chief of Investigations and Patrol, which third Deputy Chief is under operations now?

I can't eliminate a sworn position here in order to have a civilian but I think it's clear that the goal is to get the sworn member and on that level back over into stuff that's dealing operationally with law enforcement matters.

In your experience in Newark, New York, easy for you to say, did this civilian position, how did the cooperation and the acceptance with its sworn officers, how did that work out?

So, different problems.

But overall, you're saying the experience in other cities is that this is very helpful.

So it was intentional to try and account for the experiences that are relevant, and that's why placing them in a particular position would be dependent on what is the right fit, if that makes sense.

work that's both internal to the department but also external to the community and then it says within the job description this person's role would act as a liaison between Minneapolis Police Department and elected officials, brief council, brief the mayor and maybe you could speak to the deliverables and maybe you could also just share the gap that currently exists that this is seeking to fulfill.

But in addition to just simply having that gap, I think this is an upgrade from what we have available There is a lot of civilian experience out there in other major cities and other police departments That quite frankly our people here don't have That could be helpful if we were able to recruit someone with that civilian executive level experience elsewhere

What's the expected timeline should this be approved for hiring, the job position going up, recruitment?

She does not work here now, but she is within Minnesota and has relevant experience that I think would be very helpful for the department.

Timeline?

As soon as possible for me But yes, a part of it would be you know, obviously with any of any person just First would be ensuring that this position, you know is finalized and then you know being able to have serious talks about coming over Okay, great, thank you, those are all my questions
