Consider a request for a closed session, which is to receive a briefing on the collective bargaining agreement with the police officers unit as listed on the agenda.

Madam Chair, the next item on the agenda is consideration of briefing related to the collective bargaining agreement with the Minneapolis Police Officers Federation.

Consideration of negotiation strategies or discussion and review of labor negotiation proposals may be held in a closed session pursuant to Minnesota statutes

Section 13D03.

In order to close the meeting to the public, a majority of the council must vote to close the meeting.

With that, I will move that our public meeting be closed as authorized under the provisions of open meeting law, specifically Minnesota Statutes Section 13D.03 for the purpose of discussing labor negotiations and strategies relating to the collective bargaining agreement with the Police Officer Federation.

CNN, I will just note that our first Commissioner of Public Safety, Dr. Cedric Alexander is retiring September 1st and I just wanted to take

A moment in public to thank him for his service and to helping the city create this new office of public safety.

His contributions to the city of Minneapolis, though short in tenure, but very mighty and productive

Ascent in helping us to create this new Office of Public Safety and really combine the efforts of all five of our public safety focus departments and creating a pathway forward for transforming public safety in the city of Minneapolis.

So thank you, Dr. Alexander, for your service to the city of Minneapolis.
